  1. I am finally setting about to organizing my DVDs and CDs for a big move. Some of them were played on a PC which had a lot of bad malware, spyware, and the like on it at the time. Would the DVDs and CDs be damaged or have that malware on them now? I recall reading in the Windows Help that 'discs should be treated as infected', but can't remember anything other than that.
I know it seems kind of stupid worrying about movie and music discs, but I hope someone can answer for me.

Only time dvds and cds can be infected is when the material needed to be burned is infected, any cd/dvd that is already burned and closed and commercial discs can never be infected and welcome to the forums.

Well, the majority of new users post one question and once it gets an answer they either never post again or only post if they have another question in the future (sometimes there is a gap of many years between the 2 posts). However, if you choose to at least read the forums from time to time even if you don't post, you can learn a lot.

Okay... seriously... just by playing a dvd or cd on a PC that was infected, how do you think any kind of malware or virus would be able to just migrate to them ??

A pressed disc (store bought not recordable) can not ever have information added to them, period!!! IE: a virus or malware or any information.
A recorded disc, IE: dvdr/cdr, if just played on a system, with information previously recorded to, burned to, information or files, can not just magically have information added to them!!

Even just putting a blank dvdr or cdr in your dive will do nothing or magically have information, files, ect migrate onto them.....

Like Johns0 stated, the only way to transfer any type of malware or any virus to a disc is if you burn material that is already infected from said PC.

Now a USB flash drive or external hdd is a different story....
